Carbonation investigation on atmospherically exposed lime-treated silty soil

چکیده
The effect of carbonation on a one-year atmospherically exposed lime-treated soil structure is investigated. investigation involves analyzing the chemical characteristics and pore-structure modifications several specimens sampled up to 12 cm depth perpendicular surface. On comparing analysis with untreated core-sampled specimens, found have occurred 4.2 decrease in pH value 9 or lower than that presence carbonates confirmed effect. At level, mechanism increase macropores diameter 20000–100000 Å, which missing non-carbonated even greater one at soil. Such an observation loss cementitious compounds due carbonation, thus, converting mesopores developed lime treatment larger pore diameter.

متن کاملBehavior of Compacted Lime-soil Columns
This study presents the results of large scale laboratory model tests to investigate the behavior of Compacted Lime – Well-graded Soil (CL-WS) rigid stone columns in soft soils. The unit cell idealization is used for construction of composite specimens by evaluating the influence of different parameters such as the diameter of the column (D), the slenderness ratio (L/D) and the area ratio (Ar)...
متن کاملEffect of Oil Contamination on Lime Stabilized Soil
This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of spent oil contamination on the strength of lime stabilized soil. Laterite soil was stabilized with lime in percentages of 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8% of the dry weight of soil. Specimens were prepared for UCS and CBR. The specimens for UCS were cured for 7, 14 and 28 days; while the specimens for CBR were cured for 4 days. Contamination of the specime...
متن کاملPermeability of Lateritic Soil Treated with Lime and Rice Husk Ash
A-7-6 lateritic soil was treated at British Standard Light (BSL) compaction energy with up to 8% lime content (by dry weight of the soil) at 2% variations and each was admixed with up to 8% rice husk ash (RHA) at 2% variations. Effects of the ash on the soil-lime mixtures were investigated with respect to unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and coefficient of permeability. The UCS of the spec...
متن کاملImpact of the Repeated Tractor Passes on Some Physical Properties of Silty Loam Soil
Soil compaction caused by machinery traffic in agriculture is a well recognised problem in many parts of the world as one of the most important factor responsible for soil physical degradation and has important consequences on crop production and environment (Soane and van Ouwerkerk, 1994; Keller and Arvidsson, 2004). It is estimated to be responsible for the degradation of an area of 68 millio...
